The Music Thief
The Music Thief…
…is a newly written musical play for children.
An unhappy king has banned singing and music in his kingdom. The people have lived without melodies for so long that they have forgotten what music is. But one day, sisters Frida and Alma and their neighbour Knut discover some old instruments in a dusty attic. Inside a cupboard, they also find some large, strange bottles. The bottles contain all kinds of music: rhythmic music, musical theatre, pop and classical music—even opera!
The performance lasts approximately 40 minutes, with no interval.
Best suited to children aged three and up.
Cast: Silvia Moi, Benedicte Sofie Ribe and Nils Harald Sødal.
The Music Thief is part of the “Ung Utvikling” programme, sponsored by Sparebankstiftelsen Hallingdal and Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
Emerging talents from the Norwegian Academy of Music
As part of our “Ung Utvikling” series, we’re delighted to welcome vocal students from the Norwegian Academy of Music to Ål. In 2026, Operalåven is focusing on young singers and young audiences. What better way to bring these together than to invite promising young talents to prepare and perform a concert especially for young people in Hallingdal?
Ung Utvikling is sponsored by Wilhelmsenstiftelsen, Sparebankstiftelsen Hallingdal and Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
Concerts at Operalåven are always free for children and young adults aged 21 and under—and this special concert is free for everyone!
